Surah Al-Maidah Ayat 114 presents a supplication made by Prophet Isa (Jesus), the son of Mary. In simple terms, he says: “O Allah, our Lord, send down to us a table [spread with food] from the heaven to be for us a festival for the first of us and the last of us and a sign from You. And provide for us, and You are the best of providers.”
This verse recounts a request by Prophet Isa for a divine feast, asking Allah for a miraculous table laden with food to be sent down from the heavens. The purpose of this request is not just for sustenance but also to serve as a celebration and a clear sign of God’s power and mercy. It’s a prayer for both material and spiritual blessings, acknowledging Allah as the ultimate provider.
