Surah Al-‘Adiyat, which means “The Chargers” or “The Assaulters,” is the 100th chapter of the Quran. It is a short but powerful chapter that vividly describes the scene of a battlefield and the swift, galloping war horses. The Surah begins with a solemn oath by the charging horses, implying the impending catastrophe or battle.
The chapter goes on to describe human ingratitude and forgetfulness toward their Lord despite the numerous blessings they enjoy. It serves as a reflection on human nature, warning against heedlessness and urging individuals to recognize and be grateful for the favors of their Creator. Surah Al-‘Adiyat conveys important lessons about gratitude, accountability, and the consequences of actions, using the powerful imagery of charging horses to emphasize its message.
